Did you know that nearly 1 in 5 people have disability today? They also make up the largest minority group in the United States!
These are just a few of the things you'll learn at our 7th Annual Spirit of the ADA event on October 27th. It's right around the corner and we couldn't be more excited! Each year this event commemorates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The Americans with Disabilities Act is a civil rights law that prohibits the discrimination of individuals with disabilities in all areas of life, including jobs, schools, transportation and all public and private places that are open to the public.
This year the event is on Oct. 27th. We meet at the Jacksonville Zoo and partake in all kinds of fun. The event is open to the public. During the day everyone participates in a scavenger hunt with disability related questions, and then we break for lunch. Over 50 vendors that serve people with disabilities will also be present.
