JACKSONVILLE, FL – On Friday, May 29th, the Brooks Temporary Loan Closet (TLC) received the WJXT Channel 4 News “Positively Jax” award. Positively Jax is a partnership between Channel 4 and Memorial Hospital to recognize people, organizations and businesses that make a positive impact in the Jacksonville community. Presenting the award was Jim O’Loughlin, president and CEO of Memorial Hospital.

The Brooks Temporary Loan Closet is one of twenty-five programs empowering people with disabilities at the Independent Living Resource Center. The program is designed to loan durable medical equipment to individuals in need at no-cost.

The Brooks Temporary Loan Closet operates through community donations and financial support from Brooks Rehabilitation. “We are thrilled to partner with The Independent Living Resource Center on a program that not only benefits our patients, but the entire Jacksonville community. Brooks Rehabilitation and The ILRC share a commitment to improve the quality of life for people living with physical disabilities and the TLC is a vital resource. We’re committed to the continued support of this valuable offering,” said Marion Anderson, Executive Director for Brooks Community Health.

Equipment available for loan include electric wheelchairs, hospital beds, shower chairs, walkers and canes. For more information or to donate, call the Independent Living Resource Center at (904) 399-8484.
