Deaf Cop Chat

JACKSONVILLE, FL – On Tuesday, March 30th the Center for Independent Living (CIL) Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office will host a virtual Deaf Cop Chat for residents who use sign language to communicate.

Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center at LaVilla

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority will officially open the JRTC at LaVilla on Monday, March 30, 2020. We are excited to enter a new era of mobility options within the region. Before we open to the public, we are staging (rain or shine) planned simulations/training exercises to ensure that the JTA is fully prepared to address operational and customer scenarios.

What is a Center for Independent Living?

The term "center for independent living" means a consumer‑controlled, community‑based, cross‑disability, nonresidential private nonprofit agency that is designed and operated within a local community by individuals with disabilities

NEWS RELEASE

IL Jacksonville has been selected as Florida's host site for "CORE", a national sign language mentoring program. Florida will be the third State to provide this program, joining Washington, D.C. and Denver, Colorado.
