Jessica a sophomore, from St. Augustine High School, enjoyed her visit to the St. Augustine Alligator Farm so much that she's even considering working there in the future.
"I love animals, so I would definitely love to work here some day after high school," said Jessica. During April, students from St. Augustine High School were able to visit a local Alligator farm with the ILRC's High School High Tech Program (HSHT).
The park is home to hundreds of reptiles, and hosts a beautiful array of exotic birds, and adorable monkey species. The Zoo also has a zip-line, where anyone not afraid of heights, can make their way through the canopy of trees while getting a little exercise.
The students were able to meet friendly staff and learn about positions within the zoo such as hosts, cashiers, zoo-keepers and zip-line instructors.
One focus of HSHT is career exploration for students. HSHT Coordinators work to connect local businesses and students. These connections help students network, and gain real world working experience. Many positions at the zoo only require a High School Diploma, which is perfect for any graduating senior.
The HSHT program would like to specially thank The St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park for their hospitality and allowing the students to explore and learn for the day!
