Who: The nonprofit Independent Living Resource Center (ILRC) of Northeast Florida will be participating in a We Vote Rally in the Jacksonville City Hall rotunda on Thursday, July 21 from 5:30 to 8pm.
What: The We Vote Rally is designed to advocate for issues that are important to the disabled community, educate elected officials about the disabled community’s concerns and needs and register members of the disabled community to vote. Employees of the Duval County Supervisor of Elections office will be on hand to take voter applications. The ILRC of Northeast Florida is working in conjunction with the City of Jacksonville’s Disabled Services Division in organizing the event.
ILRC of Northeast Florida Executive Director Tyler Morris will be available for interviews at the event as will clients of the ILRC.
Joining the ILRC at this event will be The ARC, UF Health Center for Autism and Related Disabilities, Family Care Council, State of Florida, City of Jacksonville, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Jacksonville Young Voters Coalition

There are over 400 Centers for independent living that operate nationwide and 17 in the state of Florida. Their mission is to empower people with disabilities to live independently. In Northeast Florida, the Independent Living Resource Center (ILRC) assists consumers who have disabilities with skill development in areas such as money management, goal setting, accessing community transportation, utilization of equipment and employment readiness. The ILRC works with clients to adapt skills training to meet the individual's goals and desires for achievement or continuation of independent living. Included in those efforts are advocacy, information referral and peer counseling.
