Hello, my name is Meagan DaCosta and I am an intern at the ILRC of Northeast Florida with the Ready to Achieve Mentoring program (RAMP). I am currently enrolled at the University of North Florida as a Psychology major and Professional Education minor. My full time job is volunteering and giving back to my community. By giving back, I get a real sense of what it means to be a productive member of society. I love to learn and the best way I know how is through others and social interactions. You can never stop learning if you never stop teaching, and that is why I am so passionate about mentoring
I learned about RAMP in January of 2015 when Ms. Julie Gilson gave a presentation in my psychology class, Learning Theory. I have volunteered for many programs before but RAMP felt like the perfect fit for me. I quickly signed up and did all trainings. As soon as I became a mentor and worked with the students I knew I was in the right place. As a mentor, I can be placed with any mentee and find ways to connect with them. Every student counts and as a mentor and role model it’s my job to help as many students as I can to achieve their goals. I have learned so much from my students, and I hope they have learned as much from me.
